Job summary

HD Repair Center LLC in Plainfield, IL, is seeking an entry level Diesel Mechanic 1 Technician to join our technical team. You will perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on our fleet, learn diagnostics, and use HD Repair Center tools to complete repairs to keep vehicles on the road.

We welcome individuals new to the field or with some repair experience who are mechanically inclined and eager to learn.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license required.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational/technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
• 1-2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience preferred.
• Basic mechanical aptitude.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work well in a team and independently.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain vehicles and ensure safety for drivers.
• Log, research and complete repairs using HD Repair Center tools, including basic diagnostics.
• Perform preventative maintenance such as tire rotation and lubrication, plus some electrical and cooling-system work.
• Collaborate with management to learn new skills via OEM training and hands-on coaching.
• Handle other projects and tasks as assigned by supervision.

Main Responsibilities:

• Making sure vehicles are maintained and safe for our drivers
• Using HD Repair Center's tools and technologies to log, research and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics
• Doing preventative maintenance repairs—like replacing or rotating tires—and completing vehicle component lubrication and replacement, some electrical system repairs, and cooling system maintenance on gas and diesel engine vehicles
• Partnering with your manager to learn new skills using OEM training and hands‑on coaching
• Working on other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor

General Requirements:

• Valid driver’s license- required
• High school diploma or equivalent- preferred
