Dairy Farmers of America, Inc. is seeking a full-time diesel mechanic in Vermont to maintain and repair trucks and trailers to DOT standards, ensuring equipment is available and in optimal operating condition.

Work with the assistance of other mechanics or supervisors for highly technical repairs, with on-call hours and a schedule from 8 am to 5 pm. Responsibilities include responding to maintenance requests, inspections, and safety compliance, and operating arc and MIG welding equipment.

Formación

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• At least two years' experience as a diesel Class 8 vehicle mechanic.
• Must read and understand driver inspection reports.

Responsabilidades

• Responds to maintenance requests from drivers, safety coordinator, DOT coordinator, lead mechanic, transportation supervisor, and fleet manager.
• Maintains and repairs trucks and trailers to be in proper operating condition according to DOT specifications.
• Conducts periodic inspections, diagnoses problems, and eliminates unsafe operating conditions.
• Performs annual vehicle inspection and admissions tests in compliance with state regulations.
• Operates arc and MIG welding equipment.
• Other duties as assigned

General Purpose

Performthe majority oftruck and/or trailer maintenance and repairs, ensuring that equipment is available and inoptimaloperatingcondition, while working under minimal supervision. Work with theassistanceof other mechanics or supervisors when performing highly technical or intricate diagnostic repairs.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

Necessary Knowledge,Skillsand Abilities:

• Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and inwriting


• Must be able to provide and use personal hand toolsappropriate forworking on heavyequipment


• Must have knowledge and understanding of DOTregulations

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Must be able to lift 75lbs.


• Must be able to pass aphysical demandsanalysis
