Job summary

Express Employment Professionals - Cincinnati East is seeking a diesel mechanic to inspect vehicles and trailers, perform diagnostics, and replace worn parts. You will conduct DOT-related inspections, run tests, and keep accurate maintenance records.

This full-time, evaluation-hire role in Illinois offers pay up to $26 per hour, depending on experience. Tools required; you must provide your own set. Flexible shifts may apply, with opportunities to work on Cummins/Detroit engines.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of diesel mechanic experience.
• DOT inspections experience preferred.
• Experience with engine repair: Cummins, ISX, ISM, DD15 & 60 Series Detroit.
• Must have your own tools.
• Willing to be flexible due to workload & shifts.

Responsibilities

• Determine vehicle or trailer conditions.
• Conduct inspections and run diagnostic tests.
• Identify and replace worn or damaged parts.
• Keep up with preventative maintenance schedules.
• Assemble, disassemble or sub-assemble components, parts or systems.
• Make adjustments and alignments as needed.
• Conduct test drives to diagnose problems and confirm the problem has been corrected.
• Comply with federal and state vehicle requirements.
• Maintain vehicle records.
• Maintain shop equipment and follow operating instructions.
