Job Details:

  • $20.00 - $25.00 per hour, based on experience
  • Monday - Friday 1st shift hours (8am start time) with weekend rotational on-call hours - cell phone provided

Position Purpose:

We value the safety of our associates! The Diesel Technician - Class B keeps our associates safe by repairing, maintaining, and overhauling all company fleet diesel equipment to ensure safe operation and compliance standards.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Performs preventative maintenance of medium to heavy-duty trucks, trailers, reefer units, and dollies with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include:
  • Completing and performing preventative maintenance, minor repairs, and standard component inspections/repairs of fleet diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, refrigeration units). Identifying root causes of failures and performing repairs.
  • Ensuring equipment has required licensing and registration for roadworthiness.
  • Documenting work orders thoroughly through the online Enterprise Asset Management system.
  • Installing, replacing, and repairing onboard computers.
  • Inspecting brake systems, steering, wheel bearings, and other parts, replacing parts as needed.
  • Performing routine maintenance such as oil changes, battery checks, lubrication, using hand and power tools.
  • Training and guiding other mechanics.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
3-5 years of proven experience in medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair, including PMs, tire & wheel, brakes, diagnosis, electrical troubleshooting, electronic component repair, and refrigeration.

Preferred Qualifications

Associates/2-Year Technical Degree, Vocational/Trade School Diploma
5-7 years of experience in vehicle repair, similar to required qualifications. Certifications in tire & wheel, brakes, AC &/or EPA, DOT inspections, transmissions, engines, ASE Heavy Duty are preferred.
