Pasco County School District is seeking a Diesel Mechanic Apprentice for Fleet Central in Land O'Lakes, FL. This is a full-time, benefit-eligible, three-year apprenticeship.

The apprentice will assist with repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel vehicles and heavy equipment under supervision, following established specifications and procedures. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, and a Florida CDL within six months.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
• All hires must pass pre-employment drug screening.
• Must meet POET physical requirements.

JOB SUMMARY

Under direct supervision of the shop manager and/or a journey worker the apprentice will assist with the responsibilities for the repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel-driven vehicles and related heavy and specialized equipment and reviewed in accordance with specifications and accepted standards and procedures.

Education, Training & Experience

• High School Diploma, General Education Degree (GED), orequivalent

Certificates, Licenses & Registrations

• Current and valid Florida Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)within the first 6 months of the apprenticeship program

Other Requirements

• All hires must pass the pre-employment drug screening according to the Federal Omnibus Transportation Employees Testing Act (OTETA).
• All hires must meet the physical requirements of the Post Offer Employment Testing (POET).

Background Screening

Pasco County Schools utilizes the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse for fingerprinting and Level II background screening.
