Job summary

XPO Logistics, Inc. is hiring a Diesel Mechanic in Abilene to perform maintenance and repair on class 6–8 diesel equipment, including tractors and trailers. You will inspect, diagnose, and repair systems, while ensuring compliance with DOT and EPA regulations.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in tractor and trailer inspection and repair or a technical school degree with certification in heavy-duty truck/trailer maintenance.
• EPA HVAC Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Certification within 90 days of hire (ASE, MACS or equivalent)
• A valid driver’s license
• Basic welding skills (Oxy/Acetylene, MIG and ARC)
• Basic hand tools required for heavy-duty trailer and tractor maintenance
• Basic computer skills
• Brake inspection qualified per FMCSA 396.25
• Vehicle Inspection qualified per FMCSA 396.19
• Able to work varying shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on class 6–8 diesel equipment, forklifts, and trailing equipment
• Inspect equipment and perform necessary maintenance on-access and under parts
• Repair or rebuild components and systems
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues and perform repairs
• Comply with DOT, EPA, Interstate Authority, OSHA and other regulations
• Conduct safety inspections and document results
• Maintain proficiency with equipment and productivity-enhancing technologies
• Move trailers on site and operate a hostler in various weather
• Record job times and parts on repair orders
• Operate specialized tooling and vehicles
• Keep work area safe, clean, and organized
• Interact with operations and shop management
