Waste Pro in West Palm Beach, FL is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic A / Heavy-Duty Fleet Technician to diagnose and repair diesel trucks, CNG vehicles, hydraulic and electrical systems. The role requires hands-on expertise with Mack, Peterbilt, Freightliner, and Autocar fleets at the West Palm Beach maintenance facility.

Offers $35.00–$45.00 per hour, based on experience and certifications, plus a $10,000 sign-on bonus for qualified candidates and relocation assistance.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of hands-on maintenance and repair experience with medium- and heavy-duty Class 8 vehicles.
• CDL Class B license preferred, or ability to obtain one.
• Seven ASE certifications, or equivalent, within 36 months of employment.
• OSHA safety compliance knowledge for fleet maintenance.

Waste Pro is hiring an experienced Diesel Mechanic A / Heavy-Duty Fleet Technician for our West Palm Beach maintenance facility. This position is ideal for a skilled technician with experience diagnosing and repairing diesel trucks, CNG vehicles, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, emissions systems, and heavy-duty vocational equipment.

You will work on a fleet that includes Mack, Peterbilt, Freightliner, and Autocar trucks; Heil and McNeilus refuse bodies; diesel and Compressed Natural Gas vehicles; Liquefied Petroleum Gas and hybrid-powered equipment; and hydraulic, electrical, emissions, drivetrain, and brake systems.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform drivetrain inspections, diagnostics, and repairs.


• Ability to perform general engine inspections, diagnostics, and repairs.


• Ability to perform transmission inspections, diagnostics, and repairs.


• Ability to perform outside repair inspection reviews.


• Ability to assess structural damage and determine the necessary repairs.


• Ability to provide assistance, guidance, and direction to all shop technicians.


• CDL Class B license preferred, or the ability to obtain a CDL Class B license.


• Ability to obtain seven (7) ASE Certifications, or the equivalent, within 36 months of employment.


• Three (3) to five (5) years of hands-on technical experience in the maintenance and repair of medium- and heavy-duty Class 8 vehicles and equipment, preferably in the waste or recycling industry.


• Clear understanding of OSHA safety requirements related to commercial vehicle fleet maintenance.


• Ability to effectively use computers for data tracking, communication, maintenance software (Dossier), Microsoft Office, and other job-related applications.

• Frequently enter and exit the cab of a commercial vehicle, up to 50–100 times per day.

This position is performed both indoors and outdoors and requires working in a busy maintenance shop with frequent exposure to heavy equipment, vehicle traffic, noise, dirt, grease, chemicals, and varying weather conditions. Occasional road calls and work in extreme weather may be required.
