Position Overview

Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, brake, suspension, electrical, hydraulic, body components, and systems related to heavy and light-duty trucks, including gasoline, diesel, and CNG systems. May include welding and fabrication.

Essential Job Functions
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and perform repairs to maximize safe and productive operations. Complete repairs identified on DVIR and repair orders.
  • Communicate with managers/drivers regarding vehicle issues and discuss preventive techniques.
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately and timely.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with standards.
  • Use vehicle electronic systems to interpret failure modes and initiate or assign repairs.
  • Conduct safety checks and repairs using Factory Service Manuals.
  • Maintain high standards of ethics and dependability.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of suspension, brake, electrical, hydraulic systems inspection and repair.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and interpreting service manuals.
  • Ability to estimate repair times and materials.
  • Experience guiding assistant technicians and shop helpers.
  • CDL Class B preferred within 12 months.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Participate in company-sponsored training.
  • Stay updated on current technology used by Waste Pro.
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by the supervisor.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
  • Exposure to chemicals and waste.
  • Physical tasks including lifting up to 75 pounds, working in extreme temperatures, and repetitive bending, reaching, and twisting.
  • Work may be inside or outside, sometimes in extreme weather conditions.
