Job summary

WM (Waste Management) in Meridian, MS is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to service a growing fleet in a safety‑driven shop environment. You will work Monday–Friday, 10:30 am–8:00 pm, with occasional Saturdays, at our Meridian maintenance site.

You will perform electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical repairs on a variety of trucks and equipment, with opportunities to advance and expand your skills through training and hands‑on experience.

Qualifications

• 2 years of relevant work experience.
• A valid driver's license, with a clean driving record.
• Be over 18 years of age.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Successfully complete and pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on a wide range of vehicles and equipment.
• Estimate time and material costs on vehicle repairs and new parts.
• Perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
• Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
• Maintain a safe work area and comply with OSHA standards.
• Document parts usage and repair times, and assist senior mechanics.

• Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on a wide range of vehicles and equipment.

• Safety checks on vehicles - the safety of every single employee and the people in our communities is our number one priority
• Complete required paperwork, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
• Assisting senior Mechanics in the completion of project work.
• Reviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
• Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards and perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
