Job description

This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus. The following description outlines general tasks; this posting aims to fill maintenance roles ranging from preventive maintenance to a Master Tech level.

Position Summary

Under the supervision of a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor, a Mechanic performs repair and maintenance on diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks, including chassis components, refuse bodies, control systems, hydraulic and electrical systems, air brake systems, engine work, HVAC components, suspension, drivetrain, and steering systems. Basic tire work such as replacement, rotation, and tread checks may also be performed. This role is primarily for the second shift (3:00 PM - 11:30 PM).

Essential Responsibilities

• Repair and maintenance of chassis components.
• Work on refuse bodies, including hydraulic and electrical systems, and air/hydraulic braking systems.
• Engine repair and maintenance.
• Maintain suspension, drivetrain, and steering systems.
• Service heating and air conditioning systems.
• Perform air brake repair and maintenance.
• Provide road service to ensure equipment is returned to operation safely and efficiently.
• Identify malfunctions using electronic diagnostic tools.
• Complete required company training programs.
• Maintain a clean and professional work environment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• Experience or knowledge in maintenance of Classes 1-5 light/medium duty and Class 7-8 heavy-duty trucks, aircraft, or ships.
