Job summary

Ryder in Yakima, WA is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician to maintain and repair heavy‑duty vehicles. This on‑site role offers weekly pay, a stable career path, and extensive benefits.

On-site technicians receive a service vehicle, with a Tue–Sat schedule and a 7:00am start for the first shift. The benefits package includes 80 hours of PTO from day one, 401(k) with company match, tuition reimbursement, PPE and boot allowance, paid training, and performance bonuses.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or Technical Certification preferred
• Valid CDL Class A preferred
• Two years of mechanical repair experience preferred
• Demonstrated aptitude in diesel engine maintenance

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties on heavy-duty vehicles
• Conducts preventative maintenance and routine inspections
• Diagnoses mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostics
• Identifies root causes and performs repairs as required
• Interacts with drivers to determine nature of complaints
• Maintains documentation using Shop Management System

• Hourly Pay:$31.53 per hour
• Certification Bonus of $100 for each New ASE Certification Obtained up to $700

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred
• Basic tools, required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including:
• Routine preventative maintenance, which should include oil changes, brake and tire work, required
• Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required experience, preferred
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A,preferred
• This position requires for you to drive Ryder vehicles. In order to become a Ryder employee you must:
• Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification; motor vehicle records check and a road test; and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance
• Performs standard component inspections and repairs
• Performs preventive maintenance
• Diagnoses standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
• Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
• Interacts with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
• Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
• Works in accordance with all federal/ provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
• Performs other support duties as required to support operations. These could include but are not limited to Service Island support
