Job summary

Lafayette Limo Inc in West Lafayette, IN is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to keep a premier fleet running at peak performance. This hands-on role rewards reliability and professionalism, with opportunities to work on diesel engines, transmissions, and electrical systems.

You will diagnose and repair diesel-powered fleet vehicles, perform preventive maintenance, document work, and ensure safety compliance. CDL may be a plus, ASE preferred.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic or Heavy-Duty Technician.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, drivetrains, and electrical components.
• Ability to read manuals and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic testing, repair, and preventive maintenance on diesel-powered fleet vehicles.
• Inspect and service engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems.
• Identify mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Complete oil changes, fluid checks, tire rotations, and routine fleet maintenance.
• Document all repairs, parts used, and maintenance performed accurately.
• Ensure all vehicles meet safety and compliance standards before returning to service.
• Coordinate with management on vehicle availability and repair timelines.

Responsibilities:

• Perform diagnostic testing, repair, and preventive maintenance on diesel-powered fleet vehicles


• Inspect and service engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems


• Identify mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and equipment


• Complete oil changes, fluid checks, tire rotations, and routine fleet maintenance


• Document all repairs, parts used, and maintenance performed accurately


• Ensure all vehicles meet safety and compliance standards before returning to service


• Coordinate with management on vehicle availability and repair timelines


• Knowledge of A/C and DEF systems are desired.


• Knowledge of DPF repair, Cummins insite, and computer scanners are desired.


• Mercedes Sprinter Van repair knowledge is a big plus.


• Heavy lifting up to 150 LBS.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic or Heavy‑Duty Technician


• Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, drivetrains, and electrical components


• Proficiency with diagnostic software and mechanical tools


• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics


• ASE certification or equivalent trade school/vocational training preferred


• Valid driver's license required; CDL a plus


• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently
