Job summary

POSITION OVERVIEW:


This role involves performing repairs and maintenance on trucks, bulldozers, scrapers, loaders, trench diggers, asphalt equipment, and other machinery requiring service or repairs.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


  1. At least 4 years of experience working on heavy equipment and construction vehicles, both diesel and gasoline.
  2. Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  3. GED or equivalent education and experience.
  4. Ability to work flexible shifts, including overtime, nights, and some Saturdays.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:


  1. CDL with endorsements related to mechanics and transportation.
  2. Current medical certification.
  3. Mechanic certifications from an accredited program.
  4. Light welding experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  1. Use manuals, hand tools, and power tools for repairs.
  2. Utilize online diagnostics and research tools.
  3. Possess extensive knowledge of electrical, transmission, brake, hydraulic, and other systems.
  4. Read work orders and diagnose equipment issues through observation and listening.
  5. Repair components such as cylinders, chains, undercarriages, batteries, transmissions, and hydraulic pumps using appropriate tools and equipment.
  6. Inspect and replace safety guards and devices on heavy machinery.
  7. Lubricate moving parts and test repaired equipment to ensure compliance with specifications.
  8. Complete maintenance and repair documentation.
  9. Ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, EPA, DNR, and safety regulations.
  10. Maintain safety standards and prevent unsafe actions.
  11. Perform additional duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:


  1. Deep knowledge of gasoline and diesel construction equipment and vehicles.
  2. Ability to safely operate hand tools and machinery.
  3. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  4. Capable of working independently to assess and repair equipment.
