Job summary

Ryder in Tucson, AZ is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician to maintain and repair heavy-duty vehicles on a 10:00 pm–6:30 am third shift. Earn $30.50 per hour with weekly pay, plus certification bonuses and quarterly incentives.

Includes paid training, PTO from day one, and a comprehensive benefits package with 401(k) matching and tuition reimbursement. Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, basic tools, and be able to obtain CDL A within six months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Two+ years of automotive/diesel repair experience preferred.
• Basic tools required.
• CDL Class A preferred (must obtain within 6 months).

Responsibilities

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repairs on heavy duty vehicles.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and inspections.
• Diagnose mechanical/electronic issues using diagnostic tools.
• Communicate with customers/drivers to define issues and tasks.
• Adhere to DOT, safety, and company policies.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred
• Basic tools, required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including:
• Routine preventative maintenance, which should include oil changes, brake and tire work, required
• Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required experience, preferred
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A,preferred
• Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification; motor vehicle records check and a road test; and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance
• Performs standard component inspections and repairs
• Performs preventive maintenance
• Diagnoses standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
• Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
• Interacts with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
• Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
• Works in accordance with all federal/ provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
• Performs other support duties as required to support operations. These could include but are not limited to Service Island support
