Lever, Inc. is seeking a Diesel Service Tech/Mechanic for the 2nd shift in the St. Louis area.

Join a family-owned truck repair shop operating for 80+ years and servicing diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, and related systems. Expect union wages and benefits through Machinist District 9 as you handle diagnostics, repairs, and on-site service. The role emphasizes careful diagnostics, safety, and teamwork, with daily 8.5-hour shifts, a 3:30 PM to midnight schedule, and opportunities for pay

Qualifications

• At least 4 years diesel or heavy equipment maintenance/repair experience.
• Advanced knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and diesel engine mechanisms.
• Proficiency with diesel engine diagnostic software.
• CDL-B required; CDL-A strongly preferred.
• Own tools and manual/mechanical skills for repairs.

Responsibilities

• Consult the customer and read work orders to evaluate tasks.
• Prepare work plans after scoping out issues.
• Run diagnostic tests on diesel engines and interpret results.
• Inspect suspensions, steering and exhaust systems.
• Repair or replace transmissions, brakes, engines and related parts.
• Conduct field visits for emergencies or breakdowns.
• Test drive vehicles to verify performance.
• Complete oil changes, coolant service, AC evaluation, brake checks.
• Maintain parts inventory records and service logs.
• Keep the shop organized and comply with safety and waste disposal standards.

Job description

Diesel Service Tech/Mechanic

Our client, a family-owned truck repair is an operated Union Diesel Repair Shop serving the St. Louis areafor over 80 years. Currently being run by the 4th generaon of Schroeders. We are currently looking forDiesel Mechanics for our 2nd shift, 3:30 to Midnight.Monday through Friday work week, Union wages and Benefits via Machinist District 9.

Dues & Responsibilities:

• Consulting the customer and reading work orders to evaluate the tasks required
• Preparing work plans after fully scoping out the issues
• Running diagnostic tests on diesel engines and interpreting the results to offer suitable solutions
• Inspecting vehicle systems, including suspensions, steering and exhausts
• Repairing or replacing vehicle transmissions, brakes, engines, and other associated parts
• Conducting field visits in the case of an emergency or sudden breakdown
• Test driving repaired vehicles to gauge their performance
• Completing oil changes, coolant service, AC evaluation, and brake checks
• Maintaining records of parts inventory and serviced vehicles
• Ensure the job area is organized and clean, including meeng necessary standards for waste disposal and environmental protection.

Job Requirements:

• At least 4 years of diesel or heavy equipment maintenance and repair experience. (Preferred)
• Advanced knowledge of a vehicle, its electrical system, and the mechanisms of a diesel engine (Hi railand hydraulic knowledge is Preferred)
• In-depth knowledge of diesel engine components and operational mechanisms
• Superior knowledge of maintenance tools and repair equipment
• Comfortable using mechanical and electrical power tools
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Keen attention to detail
• Basic knowledge of computer systems and other relevant electronics (MaxxTraxx knowledge ispreferred)
• Proficiency in the use of diesel engine diagnostic soware
• A valid driver’s license; Must have CDL -B (CDL-A strongly preferred)
• Good interpersonal skills
• Effective collaboration and communication skills
• Must furnish own tools.

Physical Requirements:

• Work inside an open floor plan shop
• Daily exposure to dirt, oils, smells, and sounds, related to standard mechanics’ shop.
• Must be able to lift, handle, meet ladder safety requirements.
• Must be able to lift 50+ lbs. regularly.
• Must be able to work at heights of 0-20 ft.
• Must be able to bend, stand, sit, crawl, lay, climb, and li throughout each day.
• Required to stand, walk, and sit frequently. Required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel or crouch to access vehicle areas.

• Weekly Pay

$31.81 - $31.81 an hour

Position will start on days and then move to nights (with pay increase) after 90 days.

$.50 increase every September.

CDL- Class A + $.25 per hr.

2nd Shift = $.45 per hr.
