Express Employment Professionals - Cincinnati East in Sarasota, FL, is seeking a skilled diesel/heavy equipment mechanic to keep a client’s fleet of trucks, pumps and heavy machinery operating safely and efficiently. You will diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance with a strong focus on diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.

The role requires a valid U.S. driver’s license; CDL is a plus.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics and electrical systems.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license (CDL is a plus).

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair and maintain diesel trucks, trailer-mounted concrete pumps and heavy equipment.
• Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance and safety checks.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic and electrical issues.
• Repair or replace defective parts, components and systems.
• Maintain accurate service records and report equipment status.
• Respond to breakdowns in the field when necessary.
• Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with operators and management to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime.

Pay: From $24.00 per hour

Job description:

We are partnered with a family owned business hiring a skilled and dependable Mechanic to maintain and repair their fleet of equipment, trucks and heavy machinery. This role is critical to keeping operations running efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical knowledge, experience with diesel engines and hydraulic systems and takes pride in high-quality work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose, repair and maintain diesel trucks, trailer-mounted concrete pumps and heavy equipment
• Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance and safety checks
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic and electrical issues
• Repair or replace defective parts, components and systems
• Maintain accurate service records and report equipment status
• Respond to breakdowns in the field when necessary
• Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety standards and regulations
• Collaborate with operators and management to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime

Required Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics and electrical systems
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues efficiently
• Valid U.S. driver’s license (CDL is a plus)
• Own basic tools (preferred but not required)
• Strong work ethic, reliability and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Physical ability to lift heavy parts and work in a hands-on environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with concrete pumps or construction equipment
• Welding and fabrication skills
• CDL (Commercial Driver’s License)
• Experience with fleet maintenance programs

Schedule: Monday-Friday, full time

Pay Rate: $24/hour, depending on experience
