Position Description

We are immediately hiring a permanent, full-time, experienced mid-level diesel technician to support our truck fleet in San Francisco, California.

• Hourly Pay: $36.51 per hour
• Quarterly Bonus: Up to $500 four times per year
• Schedule: Tuesday–Saturday
• Hours: Mid shift 9:30 am – 6:00 pm

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or technical certifications, post-secondary degree, or technical certifications preferred
• Basic tools required
• Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance like oil changes, brake, and tire work
• Two or more years of classroom training and work experience preferred
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred

Note: This position requires driving Ryder vehicles. To become a Ryder employee, you must:

• Obtain a CDL within 6 months of hire
• Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background checks

Responsibilities

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repairs
• Conduct standard component inspections
• Perform preventive maintenance
• Diagnose mechanical and electronic issues using diagnostic tools
• Identify root causes and perform necessary repairs
• Replace defective components
• Support facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers/drivers to clarify issues
• Utilize shop management systems and electronic documentation
• Comply with safety, DOT, and corporate guidelines
• Support operational duties as needed, including service island support
