Job summary

United Rentals is seeking a Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech III) in Reno, NV to maintain and repair a variety of complex rental equipment. You will support service operations with a focus on safety, quality, and customer service, and may travel to customer sites as needed.

The role emphasizes hands-on mechanical work, documentation, teamwork, and opportunities for advancement within the Service Department.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools.
• Own tools applicable to position.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Superior customer service and verbal/written communication skills.
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Safe maintenance and repair of complex rental equipment across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and diesel systems.
• Assist in training lower level technicians when needed.
• Maintain work orders and documentation daily in paper or electronic form.
• Travel to customer sites for repair/maintenance; keep service vehicle clean and professional.
• Assist with pickup and delivery of equipment and parts.

As a Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech III), you'll use your skills to perform maintenance and repairs on complex equipment in a safe and professional manner. What you'll do:

• Safe maintenance and repair of a variety of complex rental equipment involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems
• Assist in the training of lower level technicians as needed
• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily basis
• When required, travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of rental or customer owned equipment; must maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts
• Other duties assigned as needed

Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record

• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools
• Strong mechanical background knowledge of various engines
• Must own tools applicable to position
