Job summary

United Rentals, Inc. is seeking a Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech III) to perform maintenance and repairs on a range of complex rental equipment in a safe, professional manner. You’ll have opportunities for advancement within the Service Department.

You’ll operate with a strong focus on customer service, teamwork and quality workmanship, while keeping precise paperwork and documenting work orders daily. Some travel to customer sites may be required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• 3–5 years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment.
• Own tools required.
• Strong mechanical background and engine knowledge.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 45 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Safely maintain and repair complex rental equipment.
• Assist in training lower level technicians.
• Maintain paperwork/work orders daily.
• Travel to customer sites for repair/maintenance as needed.
• Assist with pickup and delivery of equipment & parts.
• Other duties as assigned.

As a Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech III), you’ll use your skills to perform maintenance and repairs on complex equipment in a safe and professional manner. Like every member of our team, we will rely on you to provide exceptional customer service to our customers.

What you'll do:

• Safe maintenance and repair of a variety of complex rental equipment involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems
• Assist in the training of lower level technicians as needed
• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily basis
• When required, travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of rental or customer owned equipment; must maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts
• Other duties assigned as needed

Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
• 3-5 years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of toolsStrong mechanical background knowledge of various engines
• Must own tools applicable to position
• Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.
