Job summary

Waste Management is seeking a Diesel Mechanic/Technician in Milledgeville, GA. The role offers a Monday–Friday schedule, start time 9am, with no weekends, and a shop-based environment repairing diesel trucks and CNG fleets to support the local community.

You will diagnose and repair electrical/hydraulic/suspension/brake systems, maintain safety, and participate in ongoing training. Benefits include healthcare, 401(k), and education assistance.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Must be over 18 years old and legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Successfully complete and pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on trucks and equipment.
  • Estimate time and material costs for vehicle repairs and new parts.
  • Perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
  • Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with OSHA standards.

As a Diesel Mechanic/Technicianyou can take pride in watching a truck roll out of the shop, knowing your local community will be supported by your hard work. You’ll be using modern tools and procedures to deliver exceptional maintenance on both diesel equipment and, at some locations, on our growing fleet of CNG trucks.

  • Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on a wide range of vehicles and equipment.
  • Estimates time and material costs on vehicle repairs and new parts.
  • Perform your work within our Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
  • Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
  • Safety checks on vehicles – the safety of every single employee and the people in our communities is our number one priority
  • Complete required paperwork, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
  • Reviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
  • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards and perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
