Barrett Tree Service East is an employee-owned tree and lawn care company dedicated to providing quality services in the greater Boston area. We specialize in offering expert tree care solutions and lawn care to our clients. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a skilled and experienced Diesel Mechanic to execute repair and maintenance of our vehicle fleet and mechanics to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations.

Position Summary/Responsibilities:

The Fleet Maintenance Mechanic's primary focus will be to ensure all equipment and vehicles are ready and operational through proper repairs and maintenance. This involves communicating and coordinating major repairs with Managers, listening to specialists, reading Vehicle Inspection Reports, and prioritizing workflow. The mechanic will also be responsible for ordering and receiving parts and supplies, completing paperwork for the office and vendors, training field specialists on equipment maintenance and vehicle operations, and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment in the shop and yard.

Qualifications:

• Must be authorized to work legally in the U.S.
• ASE certification is a plus but not required.
• Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.
• Desire for job stability, security, and quality work; pride in caring for the fleet and equipment.
• Knowledge of two-stroke engine repair.
• Experience with diesel engine repair and maintenance.
• Experience operating and maintaining aerial lifts (bucket trucks) is a plus but not required.
• Experience with spray equipment, tanks, and pumps.
• Own basic tools for engine repair and maintenance.
• Ability to read and understand instruction manuals and diagnostic charts for troubleshooting and repairs, both mechanical and electrical.
• Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds and occasionally over fifty pounds.

Education:

• High School diploma, vocational training, or GED required.
• Associate's degree preferred but not necessary.
• Professional certification dependent on years of experience.
• Class A or B CDL license preferred.
• Hoisting license preferred (e.g., 1b – crane operator, 2a/1c – excavators, bobcats).
• Forklift certification (1c) preferred.
