Job summary

Cherokee Brick is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair diesel-powered equipment across manufacturing and transportation operations in Macon, GA. The role emphasizes diagnosing, troubleshooting, and servicing heavy machinery to minimize downtime.

You will work with the operations team, follow safe procedures, and maintain meticulous records of repairs and parts. A high school diploma and diesel tech certification are preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; certification in Diesel Technology or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and diagnostic tools.
  • Familiarity with OSHA and environmental safety regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Physical capability to perform heavy lifting and work in various environmental conditions.
  • Must be able to pass all required safety training and certifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow precise instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance on diesel engines and equipment, including inspections, oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues in diesel-powered vehicles and heavy equipment, such as forklifts, loaders, and trucks.
  • Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve engine performance issues.
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, fuel, and exhaust systems.
  • Ensure all repairs and maintenance are conducted in compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of all repairs, maintenance schedules, and parts inventory.
  • Work closely with the operations and logistics teams to ensure equipment is operational and downtime is minimized.
  • Assist in training equipment operators on proper care and maintenance procedures.

Job Summary:

The Diesel Mechanic will play a critical role in maintaining and repairing diesel-powered equipment to ensure smooth operations in the manufacturing and transportation processes. This includes diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing diesel engines, heavy machinery, and related systems.

Work Schedule:
  • Full-time position, Monday to Friday 7:30AM to 5PM, timing could change depending on production.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance and Repair:
  • Perform routine maintenance on diesel engines and equipment, including inspections, oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues in diesel-powered vehicles and heavy equipment, such as forklifts, loaders, and trucks.
Diagnostics and Troubleshooting:
  • Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve engine performance issues.
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, fuel, and exhaust systems.
Safety and Compliance:

Work Environment:

  • Comfortable working in high-temperature environments.
  • Dexterity to handle tools and equipment adjustments.
