Job summary

UFP Industries is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to perform basic preventative maintenance on heavy machinery and assist with machine repairs in the maintenance garage.

The role involves performing scheduled maintenance, repairing diesel equipment and forklifts, ordering parts, and keeping accurate maintenance records while adhering to safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • Minimum 1 year of diesel repair and maintenance experience.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and control technology, and welding.
  • Working knowledge of safe equipment practices and applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of hazardous waste and hazardous material handling procedures and practices.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

  • Performs regular, preventative maintenance on all machinery, equipment, tools, and building.
  • Assists in the repair of diesel equipment, infeed/outfeed systems, and forklifts per diagrams and manuals.
  • Orders supplies and parts as required.
  • Maintains records of repair and maintenance activities.
  • Keeps work area clean and organized; adheres to safety rules.
  • Participates in safety, CI, and other programs.
  • If in Treating Department, follows hazardous waste handling procedures.
  • Prepares various reports as required.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Job Summary

The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for performing basic preventative maintenance on heavy machinery and equipment, and assists other members of the Maintenance Garage in various machine/rolling stock repairs.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities
  • Performs regular, preventative maintenance on all machinery, equipment, tools, and building
  • Assists in the repair of diesel equipment, infeed/outfeed systems, and forklifts in accordance with diagrams, operating manuals, and manufacturer specifications
  • Orders supplies and parts as required
  • Performs preventive maintenance as scheduled
  • Maintains records of repair and maintenance activities
  • Performs duties consistent with established safety rules and procedures
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area
  • Participates in safety, CI, and other programs and meetings
  • If assigned to Treating Department, performs duties consistent with hazardous waste and hazardous material handling procedures and practices
  • Prepares various reports as required
  • Performs other duties as required

Hourly Pay Range

Hourly Pay Range: $27.00 - $30.00 dollars an hour dependent on experience*

pay range may be adjusted depending on cost of living
