Ryder in Hermon, Maine is hiring a Permanent Full Time Experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician to support our truck fleet. The role offers a second shift (3:00 pm – 11:30 pm) with pay starting at $26.50 per hour and additional incentives including certification bonuses and quarterly bonuses.

We seek a right Maintenance Repair Mechanic to join our team and service heavy-duty vehicles. Full benefits are offered, with paid training and opportunities for advancement as part of a supportive logistics

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or technical certification preferred.
• Basic tools required.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance.
• Performs standard component inspections and repairs.
• Performs preventive maintenance.
• Diagnoses mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer when applicable.
• Identifies root cause of basic failures and performs repairs as required.
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint.
• Uses Shop Management System and electronic documentation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred
• Basic tools, required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including:
• Routine preventative maintenance, which should include oil changes, brake and tire work, required
• Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required experience, preferred
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A,preferred
• This position requires for you to drive Ryder vehicles. In order to become a Ryder employee you must:
• Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

• Interacts with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
• Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
• Works in accordance with all federal/ provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
• Performs other support duties as required to support operations. These could include but are not limited to Service Island support
