Job summary

Ryder in Grand Prairie, Texas is hiring aMid-Level Diesel Technician to service heavy-duty vehicles and keep fleets on the road. The role offers weekly pay, paid training, and a broad benefits package designed for stability and growth.

You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose issues, and complete repairs, while following safety and compliance guidelines. Candidates should have some mechanical experience and be willing to obtain CDL within six months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or technical certification preferred.
• Valid CDL Class A preferred; ability to obtain CDL within 6 months.
• Pass Ryder background and motor vehicle checks and DOT requirements.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties on heavy/ diesel vehicles.
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance and inspections.
• Diagnoses mechanical/electronic problems using diagnostic tools.
• Completes preventive maintenance tasks and documents work performed.
• Interacts with drivers to determine the nature of the complaint and scope of service.
• Operates within safety, DOT, MOT, and company standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred
• Basic tools, required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including:
• Routine preventative maintenance, which should include oil changes, brake and tire work, required
• Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required experience, preferred
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A,preferred
• This position requires for you to drive Ryder vehicles. In order to become a Ryder employee you must:
• Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

Important Note: Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification; motor vehicle records check and a road test; and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.

• Performs standard component inspections and repairs
• Performs preventive maintenance
• Diagnoses standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
• Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
• Interacts with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
• Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
• Works in accordance with all federal/ provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
• Performs other support duties as required to support operations. These could include but are not limited to Service Island support
