Job summary

Greyhound Lines, Inc. is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain our fleet of over-the-road buses.

You will perform routine inspections, service diesel engines, and keep our coaches safe and reliable for riders and drivers alike. Join a team that values safety and efficiency; valid CDL and own tools required; shift work including evenings and weekends; ASE certifications preferred.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of professional diesel mechanic experience.
  • Own basic shop tools; specialty tools provided by the company.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; CDL required.
  • Willing to work shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Physically able to lift up to 75 lbs and work under vehicles.
  • ASE certifications preferred.

Job description

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain our fleet of diesel-powered buses. The ideal candidate is a skilled technician who takes pride in keeping vehicles safe, reliable, and road-ready, ensuring our drivers and passengers get where they need to go without interruption.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high-quality routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on diesel engines and coach-related components of over-the-road buses
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues
  • Repair or replace defective parts, including engines, transmissions, and brakes
  • Maintain accurate records of all service work performed
  • Follow all safety procedures and company protocols
  • Communicate clearly with drivers, dispatch, and the maintenance manager regarding vehicle status and repair timelines
  • Stay up to date on the latest diesel engine technologies and repair techniques
Qualifications:
  • 2 years of professional experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably on buses, trucks, or heavy-duty vehicles
  • Own your own basic shop tools – specialty and shop tools provided
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Must be able to obtain a CDL — we’ll help cover the cost
  • Must be able to do shift work — including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Physically able to lift up to 75 lbs, work in confined spaces, stand for long periods, and work under vehicles
  • ASE certifications preferred
