Job description

Title: Diesel Mechanic

Compensation: Commensurate with experience

Employment type: Full-Time – 40+ hours/week

Work schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 4:00 pm.
Overtime: When required to meet business demands.

Location: Brownsville, PA

Essential Job Functions:
  1. Perform routine vehicle maintenance (fuel trucks, adjust brakes, fix lights and other small mechanical problems)
  2. Perform basic preventative maintenance on all diesel vehicles, heavy equipment such as material handlers, loaders, excavators, forklifts, etc.
  3. Perform basic preventative maintenance on all semi-trucks and trailers
  4. Troubleshoot and repair all types of diesel and gas engines
  5. Diagnose and repair semi-trucks and trailers
  6. Repair, replace, recondition, disassemble, weld, and examine parts and engines
  7. Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper working condition
  8. Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries and lubricating equipment and machinery
  9. Maintain a basic knowledge of a vehicle's mechanical and electrical systems to perform basic preventive maintenance and some repair functions.
  10. Use diagnostic tools to test vehicle components
  11. Perform quality inspections
  12. Specialize in vehicle transmission systems
  13. Work in accordance with all federal and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT).
  14. Perform assignments in a timely manner
  15. Perform other facility maintenance duties
  16. Learn and work in accordance with procedures and instructions, policies, and safety, environmental and security rules and guidelines
  17. Perform other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.
Qualifications:
  1. Certification from an accredited technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Preferred experience or course work in diesel mechanic, maintenance principles and machine repair practices.
  3. Valid Driver’s License.
  4. Knowledgeable in all aspects of basic hand tools and proper use.
  5. Knowledgeable on the proper inspection, removal, installation and alignment and lubrication of bearings, gears, belts and chains.
  6. Good mechanical aptitude and math skills.
  7. Strong analytical skills and theoretical background in mechanical systems
  8. Work autonomously or act as an effective team member, exhibiting good inter-personal skills
  9. Excellent written, organization and verbal communication skills
  10. Provide quality communications to internal customers (verbal, written and telephone)
  11. Ability to work independently and prioritize
  12. Attention to detail and accuracy
  13. Problem solving skills
  14. Knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Office.
