• Hourly Pay: $35.00 per hour
• Certification Bonus of $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700
• Quarterly Bonus: Ryder pays up to $500 every quarter - four times per year

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or technical certification, post-secondary degree, or technical certifications preferred
• Basic tools required
• Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including:
• Routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
• Diagnostics and repairs (AC, electrical systems)
• Major engine repairs, diesel after-treatment, or automotive fuel injection repairs
• Four or more years of relevant work experience preferred
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
• Other certifications as required by location

Additional requirements:

• Ability to perform all T3 tasks
• Advanced analytical and repair skills in vehicle maintenance
• Effective interpersonal communication skills
• Basic computer skills (PC, Windows, mouse)
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Availability to work shifts, weekends, and on-call duties
• Prefer ASE certification in PM, brakes, A/C, electrical, electronics, or ASE master mechanic
• Proficiency in operating shop computers and diagnostic test equipment
• Minimum tool requirements
• Ability to road test vehicles as necessary
• Ability to coach, mentor, and influence others

• This position requires driving Ryder vehicles. To become a Ryder employee, you must:
• Obtain CDL within 6 months of hire
• Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, background, and motor vehicle check

Responsibilities

• SBTIII trained within 180 days (SBT220)
• Complete OEM online diagnostic courses as required (within 365 days)
• Complete instructor-led OEM courses as needed
• Perform vehicle maintenance, preventive, and complex repairs with minimal support
• Access and use maintenance documents
• Diagnose and repair complex mechanical/electronic issues
• Perform remote triage for roadside breakdowns
• Perform facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine issues
• Instruct and advise other technicians
• Coach and mentor other technicians
• Advise management on repairs
• Use shop management systems and documentation
• Follow safety, DOT, MOT, and compliance guidelines
• Support operations as needed, including service island support
