• Basic computer skills for data entry preferred.
• CDL Class B and DOT Brake Certification are desirable.

Position: Diesel Mechanic

Location: Doraville, GA

Salary: $27.00 - $32.00 per hour (based upon skills and experience)

Schedule: Full-time, Monday – Friday 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM

Penn Tank Lines is searching for a full-time Diesel Mechanic. The primary duties of this position include performing diagnostic tests on heavy-duty diesel trucks to determine functioning ability, analyzing diagnostic test results, and repairing or replacing engine, steering, transmission, braking or lighting system components. Responsibilities of our Mechanics:

• Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifies worn and damaged parts.
• Keeps equipment available for use by completing required services as scheduled.
• Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing components, parts, or systems, such as power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering and hydraulics.
• Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjusts controls and systems.
• Complies with federal and state vehicle testing requirements.
• Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
• Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshoots breakdowns; maintains supplies; performs preventive maintenance; calls for repairs.
• Contains costs by using warranty; evaluates service and parts options.

Requirements of our Mechanics:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• A valid driver’s license
• Proficiency in the use of shop tools
• Possess own tools to perform work on all systems on diesel equipment.
• Ability to work in non-climate-controlled conditions is required.
• Willingness to travel as necessary within the district (customers' yards, close geographical area and training sites), work the required schedule, work at the specific location required.

Preferred Education & Experience of our Mechanics:

• 5 years of practical experience with tractor trailer maintenance
• Basic computer skills are preferred for data entry into maintenance systems.
• Vocational/Technical certification
• Tank Trailer experience
• CDL Class B
• HM183 experience
• DOT Brake Certification
