Job summary

Rolfson Oil in United States, Tennessee, is seeking an experienced diesel mechanic to inspect, repair and maintain heavy vehicles and equipment. You will perform diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and component upgrades to keep fleets safe and compliant.

Qualified candidates have at least 5 years of experience, diesel certification, own tools, a clean driving record, and the ability to work nights. DOT inspections and quality work are expected in this on-site role.

• Diesel engine certification is required.
• Must have own tools.

• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Able to pass a drug test.

Responsibilities

• Determine vehicle condition by inspections and diagnostics to identify worn or damaged parts.
• Keep equipment available by completing preventive maintenance and upgrades.
• Repair major systems (powertrain, electrical, HVAC, fuel, brakes) and adjust components.
• Verify vehicle performance by test drives and control system checks.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state vehicle requirements.
• Maintain vehicle records by logging services and repairs.
• Contain costs by evaluating warranty and parts options.
• Assist with DOT inspections and keep inventory stocked.

• Correctvehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics, and making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units
• Verifyvehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems
• Complywith federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards
• Maintainvehicle records by annotating services and repairs
• Containcosts by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options
• Keepsupplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt
• Enhancemaintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
