Job summary

Silver Eagle Distributors Houston, LLC seeks a Technician for 2nd shift (1pm–9pm, Mon–Fri) to service a fleet of company vehicles. You will diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems across gasoline, diesel, electric, and propane engines.

Starting pay ranges from $22 to $35 per hour based on experience, with quarterly performance bonuses. A certification pathway and full benefits are available for this full-time role.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two+ years of diesel/automotive technician experience.
  • Automotive/Mechanical trade or vocational certification preferred.
  • Must demonstrate mechanical and technical aptitude.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain valid Texas driver’s license.
  • In-person travel within service territories required.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical malfunctions.
  • Diagnoses parts needed and orders through parts room.
  • Repairs engines, drivetrains, electrical, hydraulic systems on equipment.
  • Repairs body parts on a minor or emergency basis.
  • Repairs forklift vehicles and performs on-road repairs as needed.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on schedule.
  • Inspects vehicles to ensure DOT requirements.
  • Adheres to safety and company policies.
  • Other duties as assigned by Fleet Supervisor.

Job description

Technician – 2nd Shift (1pm – 9pm, Mon‑Fri)

Full‑time position. Starting Pay Range: $22 to $35 per hour (based on experience). Quarterly Performance Bonus. Certification increases are not included.

Position Summary

Maintains and repairs all company‑owned vehicles, including gasoline, diesel, electric, and propane‑powered. Troubleshoots and diagnoses mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic malfunctions and repairs them efficiently.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical malfunctions
  • Diagnoses mechanical malfunctions, determines parts needed, and orders through the parts room
  • Repairs engines, drivetrains, front and rear ends, all air, electrical, and hydraulic systems on company equipment
  • Repairs parts of bodies (e.g., doors, landing gear) on a minor or emergency basis
  • Repairs all company forklift vehicles
  • Makes road calls on disabled company vehicles and performs minor repairs on the road
  • Performs preventative maintenance on a scheduled basis as determined by Fleet Supervisor
  • Inspects vehicles (during PM inspection) to ensure all D.O.T. requirements are met
  • Repairs all items not meeting D.O.T. requirements; informs supervisor if not immediately repairable
  • Performs other tasks/projects as instructed by Fleet Supervisor, including delivering trucks to and from other branch locations and picking up parts
  • Adheres to strict safe working practices, company policies, rules, and regulations; corrects obvious hazards immediately or reports to supervisor
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Automotive/Mechanical trade or vocational certification preferred
  • 2+ years of diesel/automotive technician experience
  • Military experience equivalency may substitute for some requirements
  • In‑person travel within the service territories of Silver Eagle required
  • Demonstrated mechanical and technical aptitude
  • Must supply automotive hand tools (excluding heavy‑duty or diagnostic tools)
  • 3+ ASE certifications
  • Must be able to safely operate a pallet jack; electric forklift/pallet‑jack repair experience preferred
  • Able to obtain and maintain Class C or A‑CDL and a medical card
  • Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and a driving record within MVR policy guidelines
  • Must have the ability to operate both manual and standard transmissions
Physical Requirements
  • Talk, hear, and see (including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus)
  • Frequent climbing, pushing, pulling, and maneuvering dolly, hand truck, bay roll‑up doors, straps, curb ramps, truck doors, boxes, cases, kegs, and truck gear shift
  • Ability to enter and exit the driver’s compartment of the truck or behind the cab using normal footholds and handholds
  • Must regularly lift and move up to 100 lbs
  • Pushing/pulling: up to 100 lbs force for turning wrenches and pulling out parts
  • Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, and crawl to inspect and/or wash vehicles
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to hear voice commands in areas with high background noise
  • Ability to demonstrate or learn to safely handle large trucks in a critically safe and precise manner within very constrained and compact areas
