Job summary

Prime Electric in Bellevue, WA, is seeking a skilled vehicle and equipment mechanic to perform maintenance, diagnose issues, and repair construction vehicles and equipment.

You will use diagnostic tools, replace defective parts, document work, and coordinate with operators and supervisors while following safety program. Candidates should have an AA degree or equivalent, CDL Class A, welding experience preferred, and strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical knowledge.

Qualifications

  • AA degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school or 3–5 years related experience or training.
  • Proven experience as a vehicle and equipment mechanic or similar role.
  • CDL, preferably Class A.
  • Welding experience preferred.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment effectively.
  • Familiarity with safety procedures and vehicle maintenance practices for construction vehicles.
  • Ability to lift heavy parts and work in various weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and good communication.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on construction vehicles and equipment.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and techniques to identify mechanical issues, electrical faults, and hydraulic problems.
  • Replace or repair defective parts, ensuring compliance with specs and safety standards.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles and equipment to assess condition and safety.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair work, including parts and labor.
  • Work with operators and supervisors to resolve equipment issues promptly.
  • Adhere to safety program and safe work practices.
  • Maintain a physical presence onsite and assist project teams as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Position Summary:

Under limited supervision, performs a variety of tasks and assignments for the continual maintenance, diagnosis and repair of the organization’s construction equipment.

What You Will Do
  • Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on construction vehicles and equipment
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and techniques to identify mechanical issues, electrical faults, and hydraulic problems
  • Replace or repair defective parts, such as fluids, lights, brakes, and hydraulic components, ensuring that all work meets manufacturer specifications and safety standards
  • Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles and equipment to assess their condition and ensure they meet safety and performance standards
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair work, including parts used, labor hours, and any other relevant information
  • Work closely with operators and supervisors to address and resolve any equipment issues promptly
  • Adhere to the PRIME Safety Program, complying with safety regulations, procedures and safe work practices.
  • Maintain a physical presence onsite and provide assistance to specific groups, managers and project management teams as needed.
  • Performs other duties as requested; duties, responsibilities and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.
What You Will Need to be Successful
  • Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience
  • Proven experience as a vehicle and equipment mechanic or in a similar role
  • Possession of a Commercial Drivers License (CDL), preferably Class A
  • Welding experience preferred
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
  • Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment effectively
  • Familiarity with safety procedures, vehicle maintenance practices, and repair techniques specific to construction vehicles
  • Ability to lift heavy parts, work in various weather conditions, and perform physical tasks associated with vehicle repair
  • Strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of the team
Special Requirements/Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

Work is primarily performed in a warehouse setting with occasional exposure to health or safety hazards such as, but not limited to, heavy equipment and machinery and inclement weather conditions. Frequent operation of warehouse vehicles and equipment. Work may be performed in cramped or awkward positions. Frequent lifting/pushing/pulling/carrying of 50+ lbs. (including heavier loads with assistance). Travel required to work sites. Frequent use of personal protective equipment (e.g. safety glasses, gloves, safety vests, hard hats and steel-toed boots).

$35 - $46 an hour
