Essential Functions of a Maintenance Supervisor
  1. Directs the activities of departmental employees in the implementation of programs and policies.
  2. Reviews progress and activity reports, assesses effectiveness of operations, and determines need for improvement.
  3. Selects and assigns staff, assuring equal opportunity in hiring, promotion, and other employment practices; identifies staff development needs and ensures training is obtained; maintains proper labor relations and employment conditions.
  4. May assist mechanics with solving complex or unusual maintenance issues.
  5. Provides work assignments, advice, and guidance to subordinates, and observes and evaluates their job performance.
  6. Effectively communicates with others, both verbally and in writing.
  7. Prepares and/or supervises the preparation of reports and records related to personnel, equipment, materials, work performed, time, and costs.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge: Associate degree in automotive technology or graduation from an automotive institute preferred. Additional related experience may be considered. ASE Certifications required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years managing a maintenance department or service area.
  • Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, organization, self-directed work ethic, proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Physical Demands/Work Environment: Ability to work scheduled hours, vision, hearing, speech, manual dexterity, valid North Carolina CDL license, ability to read and interpret organizational information.
  • Mental Demands: Ability to listen, reason, concentrate, interact, and work under stress, especially in employee relations.
