Heidelberg Materials is seeking a Diesel Maintenance Mechanic at our South Texas Concrete business located in Houston, TX.

What You'll Do
  • Repair and replace damaged or worn parts on Class 6, 7, and 8 vehicles.
  • Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.
  • Operate and inspect trucks to diagnose defects.
  • Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance such as cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting trucks.
  • Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Overhaul and test trucks to ensure operating efficiency.
  • Correct vehicle deficiencies by repairing, adjusting, overhauling, and replacing major assemblies and systems.
  • Diagnose faults using engine diagnostic equipment.
  • Examine parts for damage or wear using micrometers and gauges.
  • Maintain repair and service records.
  • Inspect vehicles for additional repairs and repair DOT and safety deficiencies on the spot.
  • Follow all company policies, safety standards, and codes of conduct.
  • Log time accurately in TMT or other CMMS systems.
  • Travel between sites and handle mobile call-outs for emergency repairs.
What We Are Looking For
  • Must meet company employment requirements.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions in English.
  • Knowledge of mobile equipment repair and maintenance preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of mobile equipment repair experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL Class A or B preferred.
  • Basic hand tools; upgrade as needed.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Occasional exposure to weather conditions.
  • Work in and around equipment, often in tiring positions.
  • Lift and exert force up to 75 pounds occasionally.
  • Work various shifts based on business needs.
  • Exposure to drafts, noise, dust, heat, fumes, dirt, and grease.
  • Wear appropriate PPE including safety boots, helmets, and glasses.
Other Requirements
  • Complete a pre-employment physical.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen.
