Job summary

Tonkin Hillsboro Ford in Hillsboro, OR is seeking a Diesel/Heavy Line Technician/Mechanic with 5+ years of automotive repair experience. This full‑time role offers a heavy workload with no shop drama and a path to growth within the Tonkin Family of dealerships.

Responsibilities include repairing engines, cooling and exhaust systems, transfer cases, differentials, and performing preventive maintenance. Benefits include health/dental insurance, life insurance, 401(k) matching, and generous PTO.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of automotive repair experience.
• Dealership experience preferred.
• Attention‑to‑detail.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Corporate hiring requirements: 18 years or older with a clean driving record, valid driver’s license, ability to pass a criminal background check, and a drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Perform all necessary repairs on engines, cooling systems, exhaust systems, transfer cases, and front and rear differentials.
• Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and recommend services or necessary repairs.
• Administer necessary repairs and inspect for preventative maintenance, tire, and brake experience on medium to heavy‑duty vehicles.
• Worked with aftermarket warranty groups, presenting diagnostic findings and repair estimates to establish authorizations for necessary repairs.
• Inspected vehicles experiencing issues, diagnosed the cause of malfunctions, and determined necessary repairs.
