Job summary

City of Olathe is seeking a Diesel Mechanic / Heavy Equipment Fleet Technician to inspect, diagnose, maintain and repair trucks, heavy equipment and related assets at the Fleet Services facility in Olathe, KS.

The role offers a Monday–Friday day shift, a $4,000 hiring bonus, paid CDL training, company-provided tools, medical/dental/vision coverage, and a clear path from Technician I to IV as experience grows.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of training/experience in automotive and equipment maintenance.
• High school diploma or GED; trade school certificate preferred.
• Valid driver’s license; Class B CDL with air brake within six months.
• Refrigerant recovery/recycling certification required.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes vehicle and equipment failures; determines causes and completes repairs including engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, hydraulics and electrical systems.
• Performs preventive maintenance and inspections on a wide variety of vehicles and equipment.
• Responds to emergency repairs and service calls, including afterhours and snow events.
• Uses Fleet Software to maintain detailed repair records, equipment usage, and condition.
