Job summary

SA Recycling LLC in St. Louis region is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to lead maintenance for a diverse fleet of diesel vehicles and equipment. You will partner with GMs to schedule activities, manage budgets, and ensure safe, reliable operations.

The role requires strong leadership, preventive maintenance expertise, and the ability to coordinate with vendors while promoting a safety-driven culture. Outdoor work and bilingual skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ maintenance experience in scrap metal/mining/heavy equipment or related industry.
• High School Diploma or GED; post-secondary level education from a two-year college, technical school, or equivalent program.
• 5 years of progressively responsible management experience in fast-paced operations.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of diesel engines, hydraulics, suspension, brakes, tires, and related electronics for heavy equipment and trucks.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical bulletins, schematics, manuals, drawings, and procedures.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Strong organizational and critical thinking skills with a results-oriented mindset.
• Demonstrated leadership with effective communication, vendor management, and safety culture promotion.
• Bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety and security of staff, inventory, and equipment; implement maintenance training and certifications.
• Plan and schedule maintenance activities for all equipment and vehicles; assist budgeting.
• Monitor vehicle and equipment conditions via preventative maintenance and inspections.
• Coordinate maintenance with GMs and budget planning; manage vendor relationships and cost controls.
• Communicate preventative maintenance priorities and ensure compliance with manufacturer guidelines.
• Coach and mentor mechanics; review repairs and work orders for quality and efficiency.
• Oversee contract work, vendor scope of work, and purchase orders to control costs.
• Perform follow-up inspections post repair and during new equipment installation; participate in major maintenance budgeting.
