Job summary

Accurate Marine Environmental LLC (AME) in Portsmouth, VA is seeking an experienced Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on our fleet of tractors, trailers, pumps, generators, and related equipment supporting gas-free operations and emergency response.

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of mechanic experience, with strong knowledge of diesel engines, braking systems, hydraulics, and electrical systems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of mechanic experience working with heavy-duty vehicles or industrial equipment.
• Experience servicing DOT-regulated vehicles.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, braking, hydraulics and electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret service manuals and schematics.
• Valid REAL ID driver's license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on tractors, tanker trailers, vacuum trucks, pickups, and other fleet equipment.
• Diagnose and repair diesel, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and braking systems.
• Maintain accurate maintenance and inspection records and ensure DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and Virginia requirements are met.
• Support daily operations and emergency responses by keeping fleet ready and safe.
• Assist with parts, inventory, and coordination with vendors; maintain a clean, safe work environment.
