Job summary

Royal Coach Tours in Las Vegas seeks an experienced Diesel Fleet Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair motor coaches and fleet vehicles. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs to meet safety, reliability, and regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate has strong diesel and electrical diagnostic skills, experience with heavy‑duty vehicles, and the ability to complete quality repairs efficiently. Motor coach or passenger‑bus experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Two years of diesel or heavy‑duty maintenance and repair experience.
• Experience on motor coaches, buses, trucks, or heavy commercial vehicles preferred.
• Knowledge of diesel engines, air‑brake systems, electrical, HVAC, suspension and emissions.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and use diagnostic tools effectively.
• Understand preventive maintenance and industry safety requirements.
• Ability to complete accurate maintenance records and work orders.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on motor coaches and fleet vehicles.
• Diagnose and repair diesel engines, electrical systems, air brakes, HVAC, drivetrains, suspension, and emissions systems.
• Conduct safety inspections (pre/post‑trip, annual, scheduled) as assigned.
• Use diagnostic software, wiring diagrams, and testing equipment to identify problems.
• Complete work orders with findings, parts, labor time, and repairs needed.
• Repair according to manufacturer specs and company procedures.
• Communicate vehicle status and parts needs to maintenance leadership.
• Respond to road calls and coordinate repairs with outside service locations when needed.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized state.
• Follow DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and environmental requirements; handle fluids and hazardous materials properly.
• Participate in safety meetings and ongoing technical training.

We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Diesel Fleet Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair our motor coaches and related fleet vehicles. This position performs preventive maintenance and repairs to help ensure every vehicle meets Royal Coach Tours’ standards for safety, reliability, appearance, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities:

• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on motor coaches and related fleet vehicles.
• Diagnose and repair diesel engines, electrical systems, air brakes, HVAC systems, drivetrains, suspension, steering, emissions systems, and other vehicle components.
• Conduct pre‑trip, post‑trip, annual, and scheduled safety inspections as assigned.
• Use diagnostic software, scan tools, technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and testing equipment to identify vehicle problems.
• Complete work orders accurately, including diagnostic findings, repairs performed, parts used, labor time, and additional repairs needed.
• Perform repairs according to manufacturer specifications, company procedures, and accepted industry standards.
• Identify safety‑related defects and immediately communicate out‑of‑service conditions to the Fleet Maintenance Manager.
• Verify repair quality by performing operational checks, road tests, and follow‑up inspections when authorized.
• Respond to road calls, breakdowns, and other emergency maintenance needs.
• Assist with vehicle recovery and coordinate repairs at outside service locations when necessary.
• Communicate vehicle status, repair progress, and parts needs to maintenance leadership.
• Help identify recurring mechanical problems and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain tools, diagnostic equipment, and assigned work areas in a clean, organized, and serviceable condition.
• Follow all company safety procedures and applicable DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and environmental requirements.
• Properly handle and dispose of fluids, batteries, tires, filters, and other regulated materials.
• Participate in safety meetings, technical training, and continuing education.
• Assist other technicians and share technical knowledge when needed.
• Support parts inventory control by documenting all parts and materials used.
• Perform other maintenance‑related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Two or more years of diesel or heavy‑duty vehicle maintenance and repair experience.
• Experience working on motor coaches, buses, trucks, or other commercial vehicles is preferred.
• Working knowledge of diesel engines, air‑brake systems, electrical systems, HVAC, suspension, steering, drivetrains, and emissions systems.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical problems using scan tools, testing equipment, wiring diagrams, and service information.
• Understanding of preventive‑maintenance practices and commercial‑vehicle safety requirements.
• Ability to complete accurate work orders and maintenance records.
• Strong troubleshooting, time‑management, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced shop environment.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate repair information clearly.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to use computerized fleet‑maintenance systems.
• Ability to provide and maintain the hand tools customarily required for the position.
• Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and work underneath and around commercial vehicles.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and shop conditions.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Nevada driver’s license.
• Clean DMV record.

Preferred qualifications include ASE certifications, a commercial driver’s license, EPA Section 608 or 609 certification, formal diesel‑technology training, and previous motor coach or passenger‑bus maintenance experience.

Work Schedule:

This is a full‑time position based on operational needs. The employee must be available to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime when required. Participation in an after‑hours or emergency roadside‑assistance rotation may be required.
