Job summary

The Village of Tinley Park is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to join the Public Works fleet operations. The role supports maintenance of over 325 pieces of equipment, including trucks, police vehicles, and heavy equipment, with a focus on servicing diesel engines and hydraulic systems.

Qualified candidates typically have 3–5 years of automotive experience, ASE or manufacturer certifications in diesel/hydraulics, and a CDL upgrade track. Benefits include IMRF retirement and comprehensive medical plans.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, trade certificate or GED with specialized diagnostic and repair courses or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of experience servicing and maintaining automotive vehicles and equipment.
• CDL class B with N endorsement within 6 months; CDL class A within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain automotive and other mechanical equipment including trucks, cars, sweepers and loaders.
• Replace brakes and tires; service and weld components; diagnose electrical issues.
• Repair gas/diesel engines, light/heavy-duty trucks, and hydraulic systems.
• Assist snow operations with plowing when necessary.
