Candidates should have basic knowledge of diesel and gas engines, be able to troubleshoot, and willing to work at the Durango yard with occasional travel to other locations; welding

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal English.
• Previous diesel and gas engine experience.
• Ability to troubleshoot, multi-task and think-on-your-feet.
• Ability to use a variety of shop tools.
• Welding, machining, or other trade skills a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections and repairs on diesel locomotives and on-track MOW equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance, inspections and repairs to electrical systems.
• Diagnose and repair Cummins and Alco engines.
• Maintain equipment including Case, Cat, Pettibone, John Deere, Grove gear.
• Inspect track cars, wheels, brakes and drive trains.
• Repair tamping and ballast regulator machinery.
• Complete FRA, OSHA, and company documentation.
• Assemble/disassemble parts of locomotives and equipment.
• Perform basic locomotive servicing and daily inspections.
• Follow safety rules and company procedures.
