Job summary

Nextran Corporation in Denver, CO is seeking an experienced Diesel Engine Shop Technician to diagnose and repair medium to heavy-duty diesel engines and transmissions. You will perform rebuilds, preventative maintenance, and major mechanical repairs while documenting findings and coordinating with Parts and Service teams.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of diesel diagnostic experience, a High School diploma or GED, and Cummins repair certification; CDL is a plus.

Diesel Engine Shop Technician Denver CO

Salary 32 49 per hour based on individual skills certifications education and experience

Hours of work 700 am300 or 330 pm; Monday through Friday

What Youll Do
  • Diagnose and repair medium and heavy duty diesel engines and related systems
  • Perform complete engine and transmission rebuilds
  • Complete preventative maintenance and major mechanical repairs
  • Accurately document repairs and diagnostic findings
  • Communicate with Parts and Service teams to ensure repairs stay on schedule
  • Identify additional maintenance or safety concerns for customers
  • Maintain a clean organized and safe work environment
  • Follow manufacturer repair procedures and dealership standards
  • Stay current on OEM technical bulletins and industry best practices
  • Mentor apprentice technicians and help lead the team when needed
What We’re Looking For
  • 3 5 years of diesel diagnostic experience 10 years preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record CDL is a plus
  • Cummins Engine Repair Certification Required
  • Master Technician certifications in multiple areas preferred
  • ASE Certifications are a plus
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Intermediate computer skills including proficiency with email Microsoft Outlook Word Excel and the ability to learn and use dealership management and diagnostic software
  • Excellent communication organizational problem solving and decision making skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements
  • This position requires the ability to Lift up to 50 lbs regularly, 75 lbs frequently, and over 100 lbs occasionally with assistance or appropriate equipment
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl and climb throughout the workday
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches and shop equipment
  • Work above shoulder height and underneath vehicles using creepers or lifting equipment
  • Enter and exit truck cabs and access engine compartments safely
