Job summary

Nextran Truck Centers in Duluth, GA is seeking an experienced Diesel Technician to diagnose, rebuild engines, and return trucks to the road. You’ll work in a collaborative engine shop with skilled teammates.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of diesel diagnostic experience; 10 years preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable MVR; CDL a plus.
  • Cummins Engine Repair Certification required.
  • Master Technician certifications preferred.
  • ASE Certifications are a plus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency with email and Microsoft Office; ability to learn diagnostic software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair medium and heavy duty diesel engines and related systems
  • Perform complete engine and transmission rebuilds
  • Complete preventative maintenance and major mechanical repairs
  • Document repairs and diagnostic findings
  • Communicate with Parts and Service teams to stay on schedule
  • Identify additional maintenance or safety concerns for customers
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Follow manufacturer repair procedures and dealership standards
  • Stay current on OEM bulletins and best practices
  • Mentor apprentice technicians and help lead the team

What You’ll Do

  • Diagnose and repair medium and heavy duty diesel engines and related systems
  • Perform complete engine and transmission rebuilds
  • Complete preventative maintenance and major mechanical repairs
  • Accurately document repairs and diagnostic findings
  • Communicate with Parts and Service teams to ensure repairs stay on schedule
  • Identify additional maintenance or safety concerns for customers

  • Follow manufacturer repair procedures and dealership standards
  • Stay current on OEM technical bulletins and industry best practices
  • Mentor apprentice technicians and help lead the team when needed
What We’re Looking For
  • 3-5 years of diesel diagnostic experience 10 years preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record
  • CDL is a plus
  • Cummins Engine Repair Certification Required
  • Master Technician certifications in multiple areas preferred
  • ASE Certifications are a plus
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Intermediate computer skills including proficiency with email Microsoft Outlook Word Excel and the ability to learn and use dealership management and diagnostic software
  • Excellent communication organizational problem solving and decision making skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to Lift up to 50 lbs regularly 75 lbs frequently and over 100 lbs occasionally with assistance or appropriate equipmentStand walk bend kneel crouch crawl and climb throughout the workdaySafely operate hand tools power tools torque wrenches and shop equipmentWork above shoulder height and underneath vehicles using creepers or lifting equipmentEnter and exit truck cabs and access engine compartments safely
