Job summary

Nextran Truck Centers in Commerce City, CO is seeking an experienced Diesel Engine Technician to diagnose, repair, rebuild, and maintain medium- and heavy-duty trucks in our Engine Shop.

You will mentor apprentices, lead projects when needed, and stay current with OEM bulletins while upholding safety and quality standards in a collaborative team.

Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years of diesel diagnostic experience (10+ years preferred).
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record (CDL is a plus).
  • Master Technician certifications in multiple areas preferred.
  • ASE Certifications are a plus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including proficiency with email, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and the ability to learn and use dealership management and diagnostic software.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair medium- and heavy-duty diesel engines and related systems.
  • Perform complete engine and transmission rebuilds.

  • Communicate with Parts and Service teams to ensure repairs stay on schedule.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow manufacturer repair procedures and dealership standards.
  • Stay current on OEM technical bulletins and industry best practices.
  • Mentor apprentice technicians and help lead the team when needed.

Salary: $32 -$49 per hour, based on individual skills, certifications, education, and experience.

Hours of Work: 7:00 AM – 3:00 or 3:30 PM; Monday through Friday

We're looking for a Diesel Engine Technician to join our Engine Shop. What You'll Do

  • Diagnose and repair medium- and heavy-duty diesel engines and related systems.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to:

  • Lift up to 50 lbs. regularly, 75 lbs. frequently, and over 100 lbs. occasionally with assistance or appropriate equipment.
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb throughout the workday.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, and shop equipment.
  • Work above shoulder height and underneath vehicles using creepers or lifting equipment.
  • Enter and exit truck cabs and access engine compartments safely.
