Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled Diesel Engine Mechanic to join our busy repair shop. You will assist our fleet and outside trucks by diagnosing and repairing vehicle performance and function issues.

As a Diesel Engine Mechanic, you must have an in-depth understanding of vehicle systems and components. Responsibilities include maintaining repair shop equipment, preparing cost estimates, and maintaining a welcoming environment.

The ideal candidate communicates effectively with customers, explaining vehicle issues clearly and providing valuable advice.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and repair vehicles with diesel engines
• Run diagnostic tests
• Handle routine repairs, including oil and tire changes
• Interpret diagnostic test results
• Write detailed inspection reports and repair plans
• Manage a team of trainees
• Collaborate with other diesel mechanics
• Present reports and plans to clients for approval

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Associate degree or completion of an automotive service technician training program
• Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification or Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) certification
