Vital Tech Solutions in East Chicago, IN is seeking an experienced Diagnostic Diesel Technician to support maintenance operations with advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair of diesel-powered trucks and equipment. This role requires strong electrical and emissions systems knowledge to diagnose complex failures and perform safe, efficient repairs.

You will use OEM software tools, perform preventative maintenance, document work, and mentor junior technicians.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience as a diesel technician.
Ability to read wiring diagrams and service manuals.
Familiarity with OEM diagnostic software and scan tools.
Must provide own basic hand tools.

Responsibilities

Utilize OEM diagnostic software and scan tools to identify root causes and complete repairs.
Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and identify potential concerns.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, steering, suspension, brake, and drivetrain issues.
Document diagnostics, repairs, labor, and parts usage accurately.
Support shop operations by mentoring junior technicians as needed.
Service aftertreatment systems including DPF, DEF, and SCR components.
