Job summary

First Student in Pottstown is seeking a Diesel Mechanic II to service the Spring Ford School District, with a day shift from 8:00am to 4:30pm and a pay rate of $28.00-$33.00 hourly based on experience. You will maintain and repair school buses to keep students safe and on time, including brakes, engines, suspensions, and drive trains.

Qualifications

• 5+ years diesel or automotive maintenance experience or equivalent training.
• Vehicle diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver's license.
• CDL Class B or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment.
• Possession of a mechanic's tool set.
• Willingness to participate in ASE certification program (training and bonuses).
• Strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair school buses to ensure safety and reliability.
• Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle maintenance including brakes, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, and transmissions.
• Perform preventive maintenance and safety/annual inspections.
• Complete work orders accurately.
• Assist with mobile emergency repair services when needed.
