Job summary

LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions seeks a Diesel School Bus Mechanic in Carol Stream, IL. 1st shift, Mon-Fri. Pay $28-$33 per hour. You will service gasoline and diesel buses, diagnose defects, and perform preventive maintenance in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Medium duty bus experience with International Truck/Bus preferred.
• Experience with Diagnostics tools such as JPRO and Cummins Insite preferred.
• Must have own set of tools and be familiar with Pupil transportation codes.
• CDL Class B with air brake endorsement preferred; A/C Certification beneficial.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with customers and internal teams.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while staying positive.
• Self-motivated and able to complete tasks independently.

Responsibilities

• Servicing of gasoline and diesel powered buses from basic maintenance and minor repairs to full vehicle service.

• Service and maintain brakes, air compressors, fuel systems, ignitions, HVAC systems and Wheel Chair lifts.

• Inspects and repairs school buses per DOT requirements.
• Keep records of time and materials used.

Shift - Monday- Friday 1st Shift
Pay:$28-33per hour

Requirements:

• Servicing of gasoline and diesel powered buses from basic maintenance and minor repairs to full vehicle service
• Diagnose mechanical defects and carries out a preventive maintenance program
• Major and minor overhaul of engines and transmissions

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

• Medium duty bus experience, International Truck/Bus preferred
• Experience with Diagnositcs, PreterrablyJPRO and Cummins Insite preferred
• Must have own set of tools
• Knowledge of the provisions of codes and laws relating to pupil transportation (i.e. IDOT inspections)CDL class B License with air brake endorsement preferred A/C Certification
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
• Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion in a timely manner

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance as attendance is an essential function of the position
• Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone
• Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs
