Job summary

LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking a Diesel School Bus Mechanic in Blue Island, IL. The shift is Monday–Friday, 1st shift, with pay of $32–$35 per hour.

You will maintain and repair gasoline and diesel school buses and perform inspections per DOT requirements. Responsibilities include diagnosing defects, preventive maintenance, engine/transmission work, and keeping accurate records of time and materials.

Qualifications

• Medium duty bus experience, International Truck/Bus preferred
• Must have own set of tools
• CDL Class B License with air brake endorsement preferred; A/C Certification
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while providing exemplary customer service
• Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion in a timely manner

Responsibilities

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

• Medium duty bus experience, International Truck/Bus preferred
• Must have own set of tools
• Knowledge of the provisions of codes and laws relating to pupil transportation (i.e. IDOT inspections)CDL class B License with air brake endorsement preferred A/C Certification
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
• Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion in a timely manner

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance as attendance is an essential function of the position
• Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone
• Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs
