Job summary

Greyhound Lines, Inc is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain our fleet of diesel buses. This role emphasizes safety, reliability, and road readiness for drivers and passengers.

Responsibilities include inspections, diagnosing mechanical issues, repairing major components, keeping service records, and coordinating with drivers and dispatch. ASE certs are preferred; CDL support is offered; on-site work required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably on buses, trucks, or heavy‑duty vehicles.
• Own your own basic shop tools - specialty and shop tools provided
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Must be able to obtain a CDL - we'll help cover the cost
• Must be able to do shift work - including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Physically able to lift up to 75 lbs, work in confined spaces, stand for long periods, and work under vehicles
• ASE certifications preferred

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on diesel engines and coach-related components of over-the-road buses
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues
• Repair or replace defective parts, including engines, transmissions, and brakes
• Maintain accurate records of all service work performed
• Follow all safety procedures and company protocols
• Communicate clearly with drivers, dispatch, and the maintenance manager regarding vehicle status and repair timelines
• Stay up to date on the latest diesel engine technologies and repair techniques
